BASIC FUNCTION:
Proceed to purchase and subcontract at the minimum cost, taking into consideration delivery delays, quality, as well as the TDW specifications. Assist Purchasing and Subcontracting Manager to meet the requirements and needs of each department within the company and that of Customers.
Accountabilities:
- Maintains positive relations with "Purchasing staff".
- Assists Production Controller in the production planning by assuring that materials and other information is provided in advance.
- Maintains a vendor appraisal performance log of quality and delivery. At quarterly intervals examines the log. Agrees on a course of action to reverse declining experiences with any vendor.
- Assists in maintaining the standard price-list, delivery lead times and appropriate purchasing data in BaaN.
- With the Manager investigates potential new suppliers, in order to improve prices, delivery delays and quality.
- Performs other tasks as assigned to him by the Purchasing supervisor.
- Deals directly with a qualified supplier having fixed agreed prices.
RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS
Maintains good business relations with the suppliers. Works in close collaboration with the other departments and colleagues. Is accountable to the Purchasing & Subcontracting Manager in the performance of his duties.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- High school in mechanics + 2 years (BS) in commercial.
- Good communicator, strong negotiator.
- Fluent in French, very good knowledge of English. Other foreign languages are an asset.
