Provides engineering knowledge, discipline, and project management leadership to the Management group to create unique solutions to customer requirements by leveraging the company's pipeline maintenance knowledge. Provides In-Service Welding engineering support and applies sound engineering principles to the In-Service Welding service.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Responsible for the planning, execution and management of assigned ancillary services projects or departmental projects.
- Serves as technical advisor concerning In-Service Welding. Conducts testing, including developing and designing In-Service welding test methods and procedures. Substantiates the tests through creation of procedure qualification records acceptable to applicable standards. Conducts subcontractor audits to insure the competency of their In-Service welding programs.
- Provides value analysis studies on assigned projects with the intent of supplying cost effective solutions. Develops cost estimate for customer projects by defining scope of work, gathering internal and sub-contractor cost information.
- Prepares proposal, co-ordinates with Region Manager prior to submittal, follow-up and presentation to customer, and leads appropriate teams for project development and implementation.
- Provides project manager with project progress report, cost trend etc. in a timely manner.
- Responsible for project costs, bids & evaluation, specifications, change orders, material procurement, safety and timely project execution.
- Gains a thorough knowledge of all aspects of project management with respect to products, ancillary services, applicable federal, state & local regulations, applicable codes, design standard, customer relations and field co-ordination with contractors.
- Improves technical knowledge by participating in professional organizations, reviewing technical papers/literature, and attending appropriate seminars and workshops with the intent of applying the latest technology to the In-Service Welding arena.
- Periodically assists engineering and solutions management departments with project as assigned. Provides technical assistance to Customer Services, Manufacturing, and subcontract sources, when called upon, providing acceptable solutions within the scope of product/project requirements, such as cost, codes, and specifications
RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS
Reports to the Director, Technical Solutions Group. Executes projects under the direction of the Sr. Project Manager. Has frequent contact with customers, contractors, supplier, marketing, sales, and manufacturing personnel within the North America and International Regions. May be called upon for engineering opinion by senior management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- B.S. degree in Engineering.
- Knowledgeable of applicable pipeline codes; able to perform advanced engineering calculations.
- Good oral and written communication skills; good supervisory skills.
- Computer literate with the use of Microsoft Word, CAD Systems, and Excel at the Intermediate level.
- Professional registration desirable.
- Ten years engineering experience with a minimum of 5 years pipeline product and/or In-Service Welding Engineering and 3 years project engineering experience in oil & gas industry.
- Must have CWI certification or achieve certification within six months of accepting employment.
