Supervisor, Production Coordinator - Salt Lake City, Utah


TDW MAGIPIE® is a company specializing in Magnetic Pipeline Inspection Systems for the Petroleum industry. We are experiencing growth in both our domestic and global operations. As a growing company TDW MAGPIE is seeking energetic and experienced professionals for the following position:

BASIC FUNCTION:

Develops and refines the many assemblies and assembly procedures that Production, Field Services and Field shops use. Oversees the Laser Urethane cutter to supply the all of the Urethane straps, springs, shock pads necessary for Magpie ILI tools. Works with Sustaining Engineering, Inventory, & New Design Support Groups.  Works with Quality dept to assist to throughput of needed Production parts. Utilizes Systems Mechanics to produce assemblies.

ABILITIES

  • Provides daily supervisory oversight and direction to the Systems Mechanics by ensuring that assembly of all mechanical components, welding of ILI tool brushes, and all necessary tools for the building of ILI tools are completed successfully and in a timely manner.
  • Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization. Aids in documenting Production assembly processes.
  • Good understanding of Solid Works and able to convey to Sustaining Engineering group Production needs. Works with Sustaining Engineering group to reduce lead time in parts design. Provides suggestions and feedback to Engineering Departments on processes and fixtures of new PCB’s, Systems and Sensor Assemblies.
  • Ensures that usable components are identified and recycled when appropriate. Assists Systems Supervisors in determining tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.
  • Assures and verifies that Systems Mechanics assemble the assemblies using programs, test equipment and environmental test chambers. Assures that all brush welding is to spec and an adequate quantity is available for all regions
  • Promotes knowledge of all assembly processes among Production members so employees can be cross-functionally productive.
  • Actively supports the Corporate HSE initiative by holding HSE meetings in accordance with Corporate HES Plan.  Develops safe work environment and promotes the use of personal protective equipment and safe work habits for employees.  Participates in emergency drills, training, inspections, and accident investigations.  Reports incidents and initiates corrective action when necessary.  Ensures housekeeping standards are adequate to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Selects, evaluates, motivates and develops employees to ensure a qualified workforce necessary to meet company objectives while complying with EEO and Affirmative Action guidelines.  Conducts performance reviews according to schedule, providing fair and accurate assessment of employee performance, training needs, areas for improvement and possibility of future growth within the organization.

RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS

Reports to Magpie Production Manager.  Supervises Systems Mechanics.  Will work closely with Mechanical Engineering group and other production supervisors.

REQUIRMENTS

  • Associates Degree or 1-3 years relevant work experience
  • Has basic knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 1-3 years experience in electronics and wiring harness assembly required
  • Experience with Solid Works 3D Mechanical design program.
  • Proven ability to supervise and lead others
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proficient in use of personal computers; Microsoft Word and Excel software at the intermediate level.
