SOFTWARE ENGINEER - Salt Lake City, Utah

BASIC FUNCTION:

Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements software programming applications for our in-line inspection Data Analysis team.  We are looking for both junior and senior level Engineers.  Junior Engineers may be given the opportunity to develop applications for related embedded projects and our Senior Engineers will have the opportunity to manage projects within the Software Engineering team and provide guidance in the planning and conceptual design of various software applications.

Accountabilities:

  • Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design software programming applications.
  • Supports and/or installs software applications.
  • Designs software applications based on written specifications and direction of the Engineering Management.
  • Develops and maintains written revision specifications for software applications that they are working on with direction from internal customers and the Engineering Management.
  • Exercises significant latitude in the implementation details of software applications.
  • Provides technical support to internal program users.
  • Maintains and debugs existing software applications.
  • Plans and tracks project progress using project software.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or related field with 1-10 years relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of commonly-used Software Engineering concepts, practices, and procedures including software development cycles, embedded programming concepts, and the creation and maintenance of revision specifications
  • Experience with the C++ programming language and application development for Microsoft Windows.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.  Experience managing software application projects required for senior-level Engineers.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers; Microsoft Word and Excel software skill at the Intermediate Level.
