Operations Manager, Pipeline Services – Edmonton, Canada


TDW MAGIPIE® is a TDW company specializing in Magnetic Pipeline Inspection Systems for the Petroleum industry. We are experiencing growth in both our domestic and global operations. As a growing company TDW, MAGPIE is seeking energetic and experienced professionals for the following position:

BASIC FUNCTION:

Organizes and directs the field execution activities for Pipeline Services business in the USA. Develops monitors and approves field operating procedures, quality control procedures, and safety procedures for the Pipeline Services business.

Accountabilities:

  • Assists in the development and implementation of the annual operating plan, including operating and capital budgets which are consistent with corporate goals and objectives.
  • Establishes and communicates quality and safety objectives to all direct reports. Ensures understanding of company policy at all levels. Initiates, recommends and provides solutions to resolve all related issues.
  • Provides capabilities and resources to serve the markets identified within the time frame prescribed to meet forecast.
  • Responsible for the field operating procedures and quality safety programs to ensure the services provided are in compliance with TDW and customer’s standards.
  • Supervises direct reports in the management of their assigned field projects to ensure that their projects are performed within budget, on time and performance results are consistent with established goals and objectives while meeting customer expectations.
  • In conjunction with Manager-Pipeline Services, develops business development strategies and operational objectives for service operations.
  • Actively supports the Corporate HSE initiative by holding HSE meetings in accordance with Corporate HSE Plan.  Develops safe work environment and promotes the use of personal protective equipment and safe work habits for employees.  Participates in emergency drills, training, inspections, and accident investigations.  Reports incidents and initiates corrective action when necessary.  Ensures housekeeping standards are adequate to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Selects, evaluates, motivates and develops employees to ensure a qualified workforce necessary to meet company objectives while complying with EEO and Affirmative Action guidelines. Conducts performance reviews according to schedule, providing fair and accurate assessment of employee performance, training needs, areas for improvement and possibility of future growth within the organization.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or Business.
  • Ten to twelve years of pipeline or related experience; five years managerial experience.
  • Should have knowledge of pipeline operations and associated ILI services. Strong contract administration skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook at the Intermediate level.
