Field Technician – Edmonton, Alberta


TDW MAGIPIE® is a TDW company specializing in Magnetic Pipeline Inspection Systems for the Petroleum industry. We are experiencing growth in both our domestic and global operations. As a growing company TDW, MAGPIE is seeking energetic and experienced professionals for the following position:

BASIC FUNCTION:

Our In Line Inspection (ILI) Technicians coordinate the operation of in-line inspection equipment while in the field and prepares analysis and reports on the data collected, in accordance with established quality control procedures.  Works directly with customers to ensure field equipment performs according to specifications. 

Accountabilities:

  • Holds pre-job telephone conversation or job site meeting with customer to ensure that customer is adequately informed of TDW operating requirements.
  •  Supervises handling, assembly, operations, benchmarking, and disassembly of equipment in the field and complies with TDW and customer safety standards ensuring that a successful and safe survey is conducted in accordance with established quality control procedures.
  •  Performs routine and preventative maintenance on inspection equipment (mechanical or electronic) to ensure desired field performance.  Reviews project requirements and make any necessary tool modifications.
  • Makes determination in the field if data obtained is acceptable and makes decision as to whether or not a rerun is required.  Assists Survey Analyst in preparation of preliminary and final reports.
  • Assists in recommending, procuring, and inspection of equipment and materials required for the operation of the business in accordance with established quality control procedures.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all internal and external customers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must have excellent driver's abstract.
  • Able to travel by vehicle 50%-75% of time.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Must be able to travel on an un-restricted basis between Canada and the U.S.A.
  • Electro-Mechanical background or experience with systems and networking preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 months field experience with in-line inspection tools preferred though not required.  Training will be offered to those without experience.
